Bought on a Whim . . .

Have you ever bought something on a whim and it turned out to be a really good purchase?

I did.  It is a skein of hand spun yarn in the most beautiful colours and textures.  A bright yarn that is full of jovial fun, just like being at the circus.  The talented Jenna from Nunnaba (my favourite hand spun yarn creator) is responsible for this bright and soft yarn.

I first thought this skein would become another Flourish cushion, a white background would have made the colours and textures of this yarn pop.  It turns out that I’d had a woops and there wasn’t enough yarn to finish off the cushion cover (but I did try).

After my initial disappointment I decided that the softness of the yarn would make it perfect for keeping my neck warm, so the circus cowl was born.

I essentially used the same pattern as I use for making the Flourish cushions.  As I crocheted the yarn I was fascinated by how the colours and textures combined as the stitches formed the pattern.  It was purely enjoyable experience that I will remember every time I wear the Circus Cowl.

When I bought this skein of yarn I never imagined how much joy it could create.  It was certainly a great “whim” purchase in my opinion.

So what have you bought on a whim?  Did it turn out to be a great purchase, or was it an epic fail?

Cheers,

Lynda.
